Plants Talk: Giving the Plants a Permanent Home

Insider

It’s moving day at the farm and our plants are ready to move into their permanent home until harvest! We've spent the last few weeks maintaining the health of our plants, and doing daily quality checks to ensure that only the best plants make it into our grow rooms. Living Greens Farm is proud of the high quality food we provide our communities. Come inside the farm and see how the process is done!

Hi, I’m Michelle Keller, Head Grower at Living Greens Farm. We’ve recently shown you how we start our growing process, by choosing the highest quality seeds. We also showed you how we nurture our plants in the nursery as they grow from tiny little seedlings into the maturing plants that we have now. And now that our plants are growing bigger, they need more space to continue developing into thick, green heads of lettuce.

It’s important that the transplanting process doesn’t shock the plants and hinder their development. With our technology, our plants do not experience any shock, which is why we are able to produce a higher yield all year round.

The Transplanting Process

Once the plants have been removed from the nursery, we take each one and place them into our patented A Frame grow racks. Because we use all natural rock wool, the plants remain undisturbed while we put them in place.

Just the Right Recipe

Using the perfect recipe of water, nutrients, and light, these plants will soon become fully mature heads of lettuce, ready for harvest, and brought to your table.

Living Greens Farm is changing the way people do farming, and the world is better for it. Less water, less land, less resources. We are bringing the future of farming to the present and we’re glad to show you this amazing process.

Be sure to subscribe to our blog and follow us on social media for more updates on how our plants are doing! Next time, we’ll talk about the magic of mist that makes our plants the healthiest, tastiest greens you can find.
